Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue

The Adoption Process

Click her to enquire about adoption

The following information should be considered by anyone wishing to adopt a Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier. For people who know and love the Breed, please excuse me, but for those of you that don't: Staffords, like people, are all individuals. They certainly have Breed characteristics, but they all have their own, very strong, personalities.

In a few cases, when Staffies come to us directly from their owners, we know all about their background and the reasons that they have been given up. Some dogs come to us will full Kennel Club History. Unfortunately, in the majority of cases the dog has been abandoned and comes to us in poor condition and my have been mistreated.

We work with all our rescue dogs to ensure that they receive the medical attention they require and are bought back to the peak of physical health. I am sure you will not be surprised that dogs, like humans, can suffer severe psychological trauma. Some dogs come to us having been on the streets for a period of time, some have been cruelly mistreated by their owners and rescued by organisations such as the RSPCA. Some dogs are quite obviously handed over by their owners, who claim to have found the dog, this often happens when the dog has been mistreated when it hasn't come 'up-to scratch'!

As such Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue cannot guarantee that any animal seen on this web site will be suitable for a prospective owner. Nor can we guarantee that any animal seen on this web site will be at the centre on visiting. The majority of our dogs are kept off site for security reasons.

Every dog has a full behaviour and temperament assessment whilst at the Home, however, we cannot accept responsibility for the temperament of any animal once it has been re homed.

Every prospective owner will be carefully vetted to ensure the suitability as a dog owner. If the initial application is successful, this will include a visit your home prior to you taking a dog - this will be arranged at the point of interview. The home visit will take place within seven to 10 working days of your interview.

We are open for re homing Monday to Friday from 1.00pm to 4.00pm and 10.30am to 4.00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Please note appointments are not needed for these times - interviews are on a first come, first served basis.
