Wiltshire SBT Rescue success stories

Making it all worth while

Luna - placed 2009

My wonderful Abu & me

When Luna came to us she was very timid, underweight and suffering from Demodex Mange. All in all, she hadn't had a very good time previously, but all that was about to change.

A wonderful family in Wiltshire had just lost their Staffie, due to old age, and were seeking a new best friend. After the home visit and back-ground checks were completed, Steve and his family chose Luna to go and live with them in February and since then Luna hasn't looked back. Our very grateful thanks to Steve and his family for giving Luna a wonderful new home.

Misty - placed 2009

Topsy might have been just about one of the unluckiest Staffordshire Bull Terrier Crosses in History. She became a visitor in Warren Kennels in Southampton after her first owner died. After several months she was then placed with her new owner and went off to her new home.

Unfortunately, just as she was settling in, her new owner passed away and she was returned to Warren Kennels again. Topsy had been in Warren Kennels for almost a year when she came to live with us. By coincidence, we were able to find her a new home very quickly and Topsy has gone to live with her new family in Spencer's Wood near Reading.

Not only has Topsy got a new home, she has a new name, 'Misty', which suits her much better and a wonderful new life. Our grateful thanks for Dawn for giving Misty a wonderful new home.

Freya - placed 2009

Freya was abandoned on Railway Lines on the 30th December 2008. The temperature was about -13 degrees without wind chill factor and Freya was about three months old!

To say that this was cruel is an understatement. When Freya came to us she was very timid and didn't want to interact with people at all. In fact she spent the early part of January sharing a heated kennel with Mia, who was a wonderful surrogate mother for her.

I am very pleased to say that I found a home for Freya in one of the local villages near the Farm and I see Freya every week when she comes to our Dog Training class on Monday. She is now a lovely young girl and everyone who meets her falls in love with her. Our grateful thanks to Angela and Ryan for giving Freya a wonderful new home.

Norris - placed 2009

Norris was found wandering with no collar and a nasty wound to his neck and was very under weight. He is an older Stafford and a particularly handsome fellow.

Norris was with us for about three months and was a perfect gentleman whilst he was here.

Norris has found a new home by the sea and I have just received a letter from Norris' new owner telling me how well he is settling in and that they are enjoying their walks and their garden together. Apparently Norris is becoming a very good Pigeon deterrent.

Dottie - placed 2009

Dottie is a 4-6 month old Staffie girl. She was dumped in the middle of woodland and found wandering and underweight. Essentially she had been left to die.

A beautiful and gentle puppy she wanted to do nothing more than cuddle and was a great favourite with all the staff and visitors to WSBTR.

Dottie has been very lucky and has found a new home in Wiltshire. She even has another Staffie Friend and a little girl to play with in a beautiful garden.

We have just heard from Dottie's new owners and hear she is making excellent progress.

Mia - placed 2009

Mia came to us just after Christmas. She was dumped on the inner distribution road of a UK City. She was chronically underweight, in season and had a number of health issues as a result of neglect.

She is the most beautiful, affectionate dog, but has sticky-up ears, that some people just couldn't see past! I think they are one of her most beautiful assets.

Mia was our first rescue dog, and one of my favourites, Mia has now found a new owner and a new home which she will share with another dog. She has already found a new rose bush to sit by in the garden and has been making herself at home in the conservatory.

I will miss my beautiful Mia, who has 'fostered' the younger puppies we have had in the rescue. Life won't be the same here without Mia sitting next to her rose bush in the garden.

Bettie & Barnie - placed 2009

BarnieBetty and Barney were abandoned by their owner and picked up together!

Thankfully, Barney and Betty were soon to find a new home in Dorset. They live in a country cottage with a walled garden and are now very happy in their new life.

They enjoy walks in the countryside and have pleanty of exercise as their new 'Mum' is a keen horse rider.

Homer - Placed 2009

What can I say. Homer is a force of nature and full of puppy-energy!

Homer found his new family very quickly and now lives in Poole. Very posh!!!

Homer has a loving new family with a little boy that he enjoys to play with

George - Placed 2009

George’s owner found a new home for George towards the end of last year.

We are delighted that George now has a loving and secure home. He really deserves it.

These are a few of our success stories. For every dog we re home, there are ten more staffies needing our help.
